roller derby girl

groupon adventure....

I'm not going to lie, I shamelessly await the email from Groupon each morning to see what fantastic deal they are tempting me with. Last week when I saw tickets to the Derby Dames bout for Saturday I jumped on that action and bought three tickets. My sister, cousin, and I headed to Veteran's Memorial Coliseum to watch the Runaway Brides take on the Brutal Beauties.

Way back in the day (I think it was sophomore year of high school) my sister used to watch an A&E television show/documentary about roller derby in Austin, Texas. Ever since Haleigh has been kind of obsessed with becoming a roller derby girl. She showed my cousin the documentary show and recruited her to pine for the thrill of left hand turns on roller skates.

After attending last night's bout, I too am a wannabe roller derby girl. We got the info- tryouts are in October leaving me about seven and a half months to figure out how to function on roller skates.

This should be interesting.

i hope i get the hang of it soon.

jobby job adventures...

So I got a job. Woot! Wanna know some of the best parts of my new job?

1. We get free purified water. You can bet your bottom I've had about eight cups and visited the bathroom five times already and it's not even one yet.

2. The Jimmy John's delivery guy came to work today and gave out FREE SAMPLES!!!!

3. Unlimited coffee. Enough said.

4. My boss wears red suits and purple sparkly ties for no other reason than that its Tuesday.

5. Friday is themed day. Theme: nerd.
